BWW Reviews: YESTERDAY AND TODAY Rocks the Omaha Community Playhouse

Yesterday and Today is an interactive Beatles experience featuring three brothers and a band of musicians. Up until the day of, I knew nothing about Yesterday and Today and hadn't really done my homework. I hadn't even heard that this was their fourth time in Omaha, or that the people in it grew up in Nebraska. But, funny enough, I kept hearing about this Beatles experience at the Omaha Community Playhouse and I kept thinking to myself, where are they performing, do they have a third theatre, etc.? When I finally realized that the show I was going to review was in fact "the Beatles experience" I was so excited! I grew up knowing who the Beatles were but not having really listened too much of their music or not realizing that a song was theirs, I didn't know all that much about them. A big thing to remember, don't let the McGuigan brothers know that, or you could in fact end up on stage shaking a tambourine, right alongside them.

You might walk into the theatre a little skeptical; you might think that you are going to see three guys in wigs with fake British accents, trying to be the Beatles. Trust me; you are not going to experience any of those things! You will walk in and be amazed by the show that Billy, Ryan and Matthew McGuigan put on for you along with their fantastic band! The best part about this show is the passion that these brothers share for the Beatles. A little back story about why they love the Beatles will be given and you will understand why they are so connected to this band and why they love doing what they do.

Billy McGuigan is a true rock star! He will have you laughing, singing and dancing the night away! He is the perfect host! The energy that he brings to this show is fantastic and so contagious, I promise you, you will be singing and dancing along. With classics like "Hey Jude", "She Loves You" and "Eleanor Rigby" how could you not? The one thing you can't do at this show is complain about the song choice, because the choice is all YOURS!! You make the requests before the show in the lobby and during intermission, once again, in the lobby, so make sure to do so. With over 200 songs to choose from, you are bound to find at least one that you'd enjoy.

If you have not yet seen this amazing show, you don't know what you're missing! If you are planning on seeing it, which you should, you better act fast as I am sure that tickets are flying out of the Box Office. Yesterday and Today is playing the Omaha Community Playhouse from now until December 31st, 2012. Tickets are $38 with the exception of the two performances on December 31st. For the 7pm performance on the 31st, tickets will be $50 and for the 10pm performance, tickets will be $75. Complimentary champagne punch and cake will be served prior to each performance with a champagne toast at midnight on the 31st only. For more information or for tickets you may call (402) 553-0800 or visit their website at www.OmahaPlayhouse.org.
