The insanity and fun of writing, rehearsing and performing original new scripts in an impossibly short period returns with Instant Theatre Boot Camp at the Shelterbelt Theatre. It all starts the weekend of July 28th, with performances Saturday night, August 4 at 8 pm, and Sunday afternoon, August 5 at 2 pm.

Instant Theatre has a new format this year. Writers will be paired up randomly and write Friday and Saturday, July 28-29. There will be specific thematic guidelines and prop limitations, and each show will have a cast of 2-3. Scripts will be approximately 15 minutes in duration.

Actors and directors will meet the evening of Sunday, July 29 and rehearsals will begin as soon as possible thereafter. Tech will be the morning of Saturday, August 4, with performances Saturday night, August 4 at 8 pm, and Sunday afternoon, August 5 at 2 pm. It is hoped that this slightly extended instant theatre will give writers, directors and actors more time to flesh out the potential of the plays produced.

Ticket prices are $10 for both nights.

In addition, Shelterbelt is remounting The New Colony's 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche by Evan Linder and Andrew Hobgood. Directed by Colton Neidhardt, this hilarious show was presented in February, 2012, to sold-out houses during a limited run, and will return after a triumphant showing at the KC Fringe Festival. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday Aug 3 and 4 at 10 pm, and Sunday Aug 5 at 4 pm. Ticket prices are $10.

Tickets are available online at www.shelterbelt.org, or by calling 402-341-2757.
